Beowulf, the movie
Beowulf, the movie, is an essential learning tool that helps to teach the poem. It helps the imagination of the viewer to better picture the poem when reading it, and to forces the reader to notice differences in the movie from the poem, offering a deeper understanding.
In the poem, no physical descriptions of characters are made in full detail. So when seeing a character from Beowulf, the poem, in the movie, it provides a better visual image of the character. Also, the movie portrays little details that the poem leaves out. For example, in the movie Grendel has very sensitive ear drums, which explains why he came to the mead hall after the thanes had celebrated there. These little details makes the poem come to life to the reader better than just reading it.
The movie has some major differences from the poem, making it not so true to the poem. However, it is my belief that these differences are a good teaching tool. When watching the movie, I often found myself comparing it to the poem. Comparing the two also made me rethink the story, looking back to parts that I did not understand, and because I did that, I found it easier to read the story after that
These two reasons fully explain why watching the movie Beowulf should be used to help teach the poem.
An email i sent myself as homework
I would like to begin this email by stating the awful circumstances i had to endure in order to write. Firstly, i’m in a library (books, pages, and shelves, oh my!) and secondly, it’s during school. If it were not for the fact that i’ve been walking around the halls eating Kellogg’s Animal Planet Wild Animal Crunch ceral, i’d be falling asleep in class.
My summer was both exciting and mundane, filled with various adventures that raise the hairs on your neck if they had been more exciting. I went on a family camping trip. In and of itself, that’s not too bad, but being stuck with my brother is near unbearable. Chilling out with my girlfriend was fun, but no moments really stands out in my mind. I also started playing Pokemon again (remember that?).
I feel these experiences have prepared me for yet another exciting year of school. At the moment, i don’t know how or why, but if given time, i’m sure the reasons will reveal themselves. But my goal for this year is to not almost fail… again. For anyone who’s been following the evolution of my grades, it’s pretty evident that they have been on a slight decline. Slight… haha (my report card would be a perfect example of decadence; yay, for vocabulary!).
I’ve already forgotten to do some of my algebra homework. Oh well.
thank you
Hello world!
“Welcome to WordPress.com. This is your first post. Edit or delete it and start blogging!”
I personally am opposed to the above statement. I never in anyway, shape, or form posted something like that. It’s unlogical to assume so, because it was not even 5 minutes ago when i first created this puppy.
Therefore, i’d request that all persons be alert for whoever is running around pretending to be me.
thank you
